In a significant step toward a more sustainable future, Zaad Holdings Limited, a leading company in combating food waste, has announced its collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Food Exhibition on November 26, 2024. This partnership aims to address food loss and waste, raise awareness, and educate the community about the impact of food waste and ways to reduce it in the UAE.
The collaboration reflects the commitment of both MOCCAE and Zaad to increase public awareness and educate individuals about the effects of food loss and waste while engaging the food private sector and the community in efforts to enhance national food security. Reducing food loss and waste is a key objective of the UAE's National Food Security Strategy 2051, which emphasizes maximizing the use of food resources and minimizing waste.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Alia Abdulrahim Al Harmoodi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sustainable Communities Sector at MOCCAE, and Saleh Sayed Ahmed Hashem, Co-founder and CEO of Zaad Holdings Limited.
Eng. Alia Abdulrahim Al Harmoodi stated:

وﻗﺎﻟت ﺳﻌﺎدة اﻟﻣﮭﻧدﺳﺔ ﻋﻠﯾﺎء ﻋﺑد اﻟرﺣﯾم اﻟﮭرﻣودي: "ﯾﻣﺛل اﻟﺗﻌﺎون ﻣﻊ ﺷرﻛﺔ زاد ﻓﻲ إطﺎر ﺣرص وزارة اﻟﺗﻐﯾر اﻟﻣﻧﺎﺧﻲ واﻟﺑﯾﺋﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺗﻌزﯾز اﻟﺗﻌﺎون ﻣﻊ اﻟﻘطﺎع اﻟﺧﺎص وزﯾﺎدة ﻣﺳﺎھﻣﺗﮫ ﻓﻲ ﺗﺣﻘﯾق أھداف اﻟوزارة ﺗﺟﺎه دﻋم اﻟﻣﻣﺎرﺳﺎت اﻟﻣﺳﺗداﻣﺔ ﻓﻲ ﻣﺟﺗﻣﻊ دوﻟﺔ اﻹﻣﺎرات ورﻓﻊ وﻋﻲ اﻷﻓراد ﺗﺟﺎه ﺗﻠك اﻟﻣﻣﺎرﺳﺎت وﺗﺑﻧﯾﮭﺎ ﻛﻧﻣط ﺣﯾﺎة. وﻟﻌل اﻟﺣد ﻣن ﻓﻘد وھدر اﻟﻐذاء ﻣن ﺑﯾن أھم ﺗﻠك اﻟﻣﻣﺎرﺳﺎت اﻟﻣﺳﺗداﻣﺔ اﻟﺗﻲ ﺗﺳﺎھم ﻓﻲ ﺗﺣﻘﯾق ھدف اﻟﺣد ﻣن ﻓﻘد اﻟﻐذاء وھدره ﺑﻧﺳﺑﺔ %50 ﺑﺣﻠول اﻟﻌﺎم 2030 ﻓﻲ اﻟدوﻟﺔ، ﺗﻣﺎﺷ ًﯾﺎ ﻣﻊ اﻟﮭدف 12.3 ﻣن أھداف اﻟﺗﻧﻣﯾﺔ اﻟﻣﺳﺗداﻣﺔ ﻟﻸﻣم اﻟﻣﺗﺣدة."
وﻗﺎل اﻟﺳﯾد ﺻﺎﻟﺢ ﺳﯾد أﺣﻣد ھﺎﺷم: " ﻧﺣن ﻣﺗﺣﻣﺳون ﻟدﻋم رؤﯾﺔ وزارة اﻟﺗﻐﯾر اﻟﻣﻧﺎﺧﻲ واﻟﺑﯾﺋﺔ واﻻﻟﺗزام ﺑﺧﻠق ﻣﺳﺗﻘﺑل ﻣﺳﺗدام ﻣن ﺧﻼل ﺣﻣﺎﯾﺔ وﺗطوﯾر اﻟﻧظم اﻟﺑﯾﺋﯾﺔ وﺿﻣﺎن ﻣﺳﺗﻘﺑل ﻣزدھر ﻟوطﻧﻧﺎ اﻟﺣﺑﯾب. ﺗﺳﻌﻰ ﺷرﻛﺔ زاد ﻟﺗﺣﻘﯾق رؤﯾﺔ دوﻟﺔ اﻹﻣﺎرات ﻓﻲ ﺗﻘﻠﯾل ھدر اﻟطﻌﺎم ﺑﻧﺳﺑﺔ %50 ﺑﺣﻠول ﻋﺎم .2030 ﻛﻣﺎ ﻧطﻣﺢ أن ﯾﺻﺑﺢ ﺗطﺑﯾق زاد اﻟﺧﯾﺎر اﻷول ﻟﺷرﻛﺎﺋﻧﺎ واﻟﻣﺳﺗﮭﻠﻛﯾن ﻓﻲ دوﻟﺔ اﻹﻣﺎرات، وﺑﺎﻟﺗﺎﻟﻲ إﻧﻘﺎذ اﻟطﻌﺎم ﻟﺗﺣﻘﯾق ﻣﺳﺗﻘﺑل ﻣﺳﺗدام”
ﺗطﺑﯾق زاد ھو ﻣﻧﺻﺔ ﻣﺑﺗﻛرة ﺗﻌﺎﻟﺞ ﻓﻘد اﻟطﻌﺎم وھدره ﻋﺑر ﻋرض اﻷطﻌﻣﺔ اﻟﻔﺎﺋﺿﺔ وﺑﯾﻌﮭﺎ ﺑﺧﺻم ﯾﺻل إﻟﻰ .%60 ﯾﺗﻣﺎﺷﻰ ھذا اﻟﺗﻌﺎون ﻣﻊ رؤﯾﺔ اﻟوزارة ﻟﻣﺳﺗﻘﺑل ﻣﺳﺗدام، "ﻣﺳﺗﻘﺑل ﺑﻼ ھدر"، ﺣﯾث ﯾﻘدم ﺣﻠوﻻً ﻣﺑﺗﻛرة وﻓ ّﻌﺎﻟﺔ.
ﺗواﺻل ﻣﻊ زاد
ﯾﻣﻛن ﻟﻸﻓراد واﻟﺷرﻛﺎت أن ﯾﻛوﻧوا ﺟزءا ﻣن ھذه اﻟﻣﺑﺎدرة اﻟﻣﻠﮭﻣﺔ ﻣن ﺧﻼل ﺗﺣﻣﯾل ﺗطﺑﯾق زاد ﻟﻠوﺻول إﻟﻰ أطﻌﻣﺔ ﻓﺎﺋﺿﺔ ﺑﺄﺳﻌﺎر ﻣﻌﻘوﻟﺔ واﻟﻣﺳﺎھﻣﺔ ﻓﻲ ﻣﺳﺗﻘﺑل أﻛﺛر اﺳﺗداﻣﺔ. ﻛﻣﺎ ﯾﺷ ﱠﺟﻊ ﻗطﺎع اﻷﻏذﯾﺔ واﻟﻣﺷروﺑﺎت ﻓﻲ اﻹﻣﺎرات ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﺗﻌﺎون ﻣﻊ زاد ﻟﺗﺣوﯾل ھدر اﻟطﻌﺎم إﻟﻰ أرﺑﺎح وﺗﻘﻠﯾل ﺑﺻﻣﺗﮭم اﻟﻛرﺑوﻧﯾﺔ.
